My name is Stephen Harte and I’m a sessional GP whose main passion is supporting colleagues.
For GPs I do this through the NIMDTA Mentoring scheme which is available free of charge to all GPs post CCT. I am a trained Executive Coach, and I am really drawn to assisting others in personal development, whether they be pursuing excellence in leadership or struggling with the many challenging aspects of our job.
I love variety in my working life, so I balance this with two roles in education: I am a Programme Director for postgraduate GP specialty training, and a Clinical Teaching Fellow for undergraduates.
Every day of the week looks different, and I like the way I can share insights and learning across these various sectors with colleagues and patients alike.
As to future plans, I am curious about workplace culture - how teams like our GP practices operate, and how to invest in these in ways that could help strengthen general practice.
